The Pictou County Food Bank East is located at 410 Granville Street in New Glasgow, NS serving hundreds of families from Mount Thom to Barney’s River as well as the towns of Trenton, New Glasgow, Stellarton and Westville each month.
The Pictou County Food Bank East is a not-for-profit agency that receives no government funding for its day-to-day operations, relying on generous donors to help provide food for those in need. We are proud to run the food bank with dozens of dedicated and hardworking volunteers as well as a 10-member volunteer Board of Directors.
Each year the Food Bank provides thousands of pounds of food to people living throughout Pictou County. Some households require regular monthly supplementary assistance whereas others need assistance only once. Food banks are not a solution to poverty but unfortunately are a necessity for many struggling people. This includes seniors, single parents, the working poor, the disabled, and some on social assistance. 40% of people we help are children.
Donors help to provide food for those in need
By making a tax deductible donation, you'll be directly contributing to people struggling to cope with hunger and lack of funding for life’s most basic necessity, nourishment.
Donate Money
Monetary donations allow us to stock up on our most needed items such as milk, meat, and food staples when our food donations are low, purchase fuel for our truck, keep the building in good repair.
Donate Food
Food donations are crucial to supplying our clients with the food they need and help reduce our operating costs.
